Wednesday started the first women’s open season at MVP Arena, and for the second time this week a new league has been launched successfully. The women played spirited games and had a great time.
In addition to many experienced soccer whomen we had a number of new women that were playing for the first time. It is always tough to start; however, the other players were welcoming and I hope many other girls will come out to play.
If you are interested in joining the league send us an email.
The Monday Night league started with some excellent tight games until San Mateo showed up late and without enough subs to make much competition for the Brazilian FedEx team. Perhaps Deportivo Toros, who won their first game, will give a better showing.
I am happy to report that despite a competitive atmosphere there were no fights and very few fouls. MVP Arena is dedicated to providing this kind of competitive atmosphere in which we can all play the world’s game, and keep it the beautiful game.

It has been a busy week for the South Bay Gunners. They won the Men’s Recreational League. They were then promoted to the Thursday competitive league, changed their name to Nexaca U.S.A., and then swiftly won their opening game in a “spritited” game against Real SJ. After some rough play and heated emotions in the first half Nexaca U.S.A. and Real SJ shook hands at half and played the world sport with Nexaca finishing on top.
The question now becomes can Nexaca U.S.A. continue their winning streak and go from Division Blue to Red next season. There are a lot of teams that will be trying to gun them down.
Last Thursday FedEx won the first men’s competitive session in a close game against Real Azteca. FedEx scored first and expanded their lead until the very end. Real Azteca evened the score to take the game into overtime. After two 5 minute golden goal overtimes the game finally had to be decided by penalty kicks
.
FedEx now moves on to our Monday Night Futbol Tournament League and will be meeting competitors both new and old.
